Feminine archetypes reveal what it means to be Woman in all Her complex, often ambiguous, and paradoxical dimensions. Because archetypes of the feminine are found in the myths, religions, dreams, arts and social customs of all peoples, these paintings draw upon a nearly endless supply of timeless imagery, symbols, and stories that have informed and continue to inform us about how Woman is in the world and not only of it. Both the psychology and the sociology of women are embedded in these archetypes.
Thinking archetypally is thinking at the level of the forest and not the trees. It transcends the particular and embraces the universal. It is rich, moist, dark ground; mysterious and the source of endless fascination and inspiration for me.
