The following three works were created for my group show,"Intimate Voices", being held at the Downtown Studio Art Gallery of Pikes Peak Community College from February 24 -March 24, 2017. For my portion of the exhibit, I painted three series: "New Science", "Birthing Modern English", and "The Journey". Each series consists of four paintings based on ideas from my study of contemporary science, language, and spirituality. These fields have held a life- long fascination for me.
From "New Science"
Inspired by the famous thought experiment, “Schrodinger’s Cat”
This experiment answers the question, Do the principles that apply to quantum physics
describe the everyday world of classical physics?
Fortunately for Mr. Cat, no!
From "Birthing Modern English"
The Roof of Heaven
Inspired by “Caedmon’s Hymn” (composed mid-late 7th century)
In which Caedmon, an illiterate cowherder, miraculously finds the words to sing a beautiful hymn in praise of his God
From "The Journey"
Starting out on the journey, foreshadowing of perils ahead
Symbols to consider :
Animal Guide-Ram, The Surefooted Companion
Season-Autumn, change, letting go, gratefulness
