I am inspired when Nature presents me with strong light falling on unusual forms, striking juxtapositions of unexpected intense color and beautiful shapes especially those that mimic human forms. Light, color, line, curves, and the unexpected─ Nature is the best teacher!
I love the landscape of the human form especially of faces. Years of working as a mental health professional have made me extremely sensitive to the subtle messages spoken by the language of the face and body. I want to respectfully reveal these messages in my paintings.
I love beautiful things. It is exciting to place my well-loved objects in unusual or unexpected spatial relationships that suggest movement not stillness. I always slant/distort my object paintings to suggest that behind the ordinary world of objects is a deeper reality in constant motion. There is no such thing as still life!
